How it works

Value & Experience

The value in Kings Gentlemen comes from all the little details and care that go into every garment we make. Buying a custom suit is an experience. We consider the experience as one of the most essential aspects of the Kings Gentlemen difference. Our executive clothiers not only know how to measure & fit you for the perfect suit, but also provide style advice and suggestions. We pride ourselves with providing exceptional service from our first communication, to the delivery of your custom suit, and beyond.

Full Bespoke & Semi-Bespoke

Full Bespoke: Historically a true bespoke suit represents over a century and a half of the finest tailoring that money can buy. A bespoke suit is synonymous with the highest possible quality, fit, and style. The process involves additional fittings between your initial scrap fitting and the final delivery fitting providing you with a fully handmade full canvased suit. These in between or basted fittings occur once your cloth has been cut and assembled by hand. At this point the toile garments are tried on and everything is adjusted using white basting thread. The last fitting happens a few weeks after and the garment is more often than not perfect. In some cases it may require a few minor tweaks. The entire process takes roughly 8 weeks. The experience getting a true bespoke suit made is truly special, as you become part of a centuries old menswear tradition.

Semi-Bespoke: We use a combination of machine and handwork. Many processes are actually better by machine, while other steps are still best completed by hand. Normally we construct these as half canvas but can also provide semi-bespoke full-canvased and normally take about 2.5-4 weeks before completion and delivery.

The Process

Phase I: Schedule your Fitting & Consultation

Schedule your fitting here. Once you submit an inquiry, our team will reach out within 24 hours to confirm your scheduling and needs. We will conduct a brief consultation and address all questions you may have.

At its core, our business is a relationship business. Historically, a businessman’s life included a gentleman’s tailor. We believe that the online equivalents will always be outdone by face to face interaction. We include technology in our consultation process but believe that the complete client experience cannot be fulfilled without a personal touch.

Phase II: The Fitting

At your private fitting we will guide you through the entire creation process, which is done at your home, office, or one of our pop-up showrooms/trunk shows. We will take measurements and discuss your goals and garment needs. Our Master Tailors then review each set of new measurements and create a unique client profile, which is kept on file and adjusted for all future orders. Each suit is hand cut, then sewn together according to our strict quality standards and delivered to you in person or at the showroom for a final fitting. We bring a unique passion for the sartorial art, while our Master Tailors maintain a tradition of fine craftsmanship using old-world skills to produce custom clothing with modern styling.

  • Step One- getting to know you and discussing what you would like for your custom commission.

  • Step Two- we will look at our different cloth options. We look through our in-house fabrics as well as cloths from our favorite world-renowned mills. Learn more about what makes the cloth here…

Cloth Selections

  • Step Three- After selecting your cloth we talk customization. This is where we discuss the details that make your garment unique to only you. Design details include lapels, cuffs, linings, buttons, pockets, full-canvas, half-canvas, or unstructured and many more.

  • Step Four- Finally, we move on to conducting your actual fitting to create your unique cutting pattern. We take meticulous measurements and have a meaningful discussion about your style and fit preferences. We take into account areas such as slope of the shoulders, posture, sleeve pitch and more.

Phase III: Construction

At this point all your details and measurements are sent to our master tailors to begin constructing your garment from scratch. The overall process normally takes between 2.5-8 weeks depending on the construction details. We will provide a more specific timeline during the fitting process.

For our full bespoke construction and semi-bespoke suiting, all materials and fabrics are ordered for each individual piece and shipped to our tailors in Europe. Patterns are drafted for you in our workshop on Saville Row in London and then delivered to our shop for construction.

Phase IV: Final Fitting

Now that your garment is finished, we will contact you for a final fitting. This is where we deliver you your constructed garment. At this fitting you will try on the new clothing and we will check the fit and ensure everything is to your liking. We will discuss all aspects of the fit and cover and additional alterations needed to ensure the perfect fit.
